He learned how to crack an egg and then whip it up, add milk. Shake in a little cinnamon and nutmeg and then put the bread in to "soak" a bit while waiting for the oil in the pan to heat up. I showed him how to check to see if it was hot enough by dripping a drop or two of the egg mixture into the pan off of his fork.
Then he put it in the pan, tipped the pan a bit to spread the oil, and learned how to check to see if it was ready to flip. All of this took patience which is tough for a kid.
But in the end he was thrilled with the results and asked to make a second slice for himself and one for his sister. They love putting a bit of confectioner's sugar on top.Meanwhile, since it was Cinco de Mayo I decided to make some queso dip for chips that everyone could snack on before heading out for activities - Anders to soccer and Dagny to gymnastics. So Dagny got to help with the measuring and then stirring of the sauce as the cheese melted.
In an hour we finished homework and did a bit of cooking before heading out the door. A big accomplishment for the day :-)
