Mother's Day

This year's Mother's Day provided some different experiences. It was our last full day in Texas with the kids.  Yet another rainy day yet very warm so horribly humid. And the last day the kids could stay in their house before everything in it would be moved to pods in the driveway and demolition would begin following the flooding of the first floor.

All of us were able to enjoy a time of worship at their church.  Actually Jack and Janet taught their Sunday School class filled with 4th grade boys while we attended worship and the kids went to their classes.  Ordinarily they would then go to worship but because of the enormous number of things they had to do they decided to forego that and go home and start packing.

Karsten was able to get a little bit of a nap while suitcases were being packed and Ken and I helped fill two boxes with toys, games, and other activities that the kids would need to keep them entertained for the next 2 to 4 months.  Yes, probably the entire summer vacation period.  That was a true challenge.

At 1:00 would took a break and went to the nearby Marriott for a Mother's Day brunch.  WOW, what a layout of food!  And it all started with them giving both Janet and I a long stem rose to take home.
The kids had a terrific time selecting foods they wanted to eat.  Anders especially had a grand time going to the pancake station where he could add all the extras into the pancakes that he wanted from bowls of goodies set out for them.  Dagny especially enjoyed the huge selection of fresh fruit including huge strawberries that had been dipped in dark chocolate and then a coating of nuts, or toasted coconut, or tiny chips.  Karsten simply had a ball tasting everyones selections.  He probably ate more than any of us!!

All of us enjoyed escaping for a bit, letting others wait on us and just enjoy some time together.

And here are the father's and potential father's
Then it was back to work.  Well especially for Jack and Janet.  I got to enjoy phone calls from all our kids: Bethany

Susan
and Daniel (who was photographed baptizing a baby this morning)
along with his wonderful wife and three girls

Ken helped with the hauling of loads to the hotel.

Then we were off for the Homewood Suites to move them in with a stop at the Food Store BBQ for a bite of supper.  Unfortunately this place is not going to make it for the long haul.  It is just too small with only 2 double beds.  But for now this will be their home till they can find something else.

It was hard to say farewell knowing what they will be facing for the next few months but hopefully in the end they will really enjoy their newly refurbished home.
