we set off on a walk just to see the area. A mile and a half later, we found ourselves in Regeant Park...
home of the London zoo, a small lake and acres and acres of gorgeous gardens. What a delight after our walk on the very noisy and busy streets of London.
We found a neat little cafe where we had fish and chips and a drink. While in there the weather turned quite "English", that is to say a misty rain appeared and our umbrellas were back in the hotel. So we abandoned the idea of seeing more and set off for the hotel thankful for the large number of trees planted along the street and overhangs on buildings.
After drying off and getting raincoats, we continued our exploring going the other direction. We had noticed huge numbers of people hurrying along the sidewalks towing rolling suitcases
and quickly discovered why. Just a block away from our hotel was the St. Pancras International Rail Station and Kings Cross station. WOW! What a gorgeous old building to explore and what fun to go in and see all the activity.
On our way back we ducked in quickly to the courtyard of the huge British Library that is across the street from our hotel. It was closing momentarily so there was only time to get a shot of the huge statue of Newton in the courtyard with our hotel in the background.
By this time we were exhausted as it was well after midnight "back home" time so we called it a night.
