Cousin Time

Ken and I have just returned home from a wonderful three day visit to my 93 year old aunt's home that sits on a bluff overlooking Lake Erie.

It has quite a history as it originally was a cabin built by George Washington's surveyors who were mapping out the area.  Since then it has been added on to several times and was owned earlier by my grandmother's sister and her husband.  Recently my aunt's daughter refurbished it and has now made it into a rental place for vacationers and we were lucky enough to stay in it for the couple of days it was not rented.

What made this extra special is that we were able to savor that time with my Aunt Margie (my mother's sister), two of her children (my cousins Tom and Matt) and a grandchild (Phillip), and the youngest daughter of my aunt's and mother's brother, Donald:  Sarah and her husband, Len.  What wonderful stories and memories were shared during our visit!!

The deck offered a great place to sit and chat as did the dinner table.

And in between we gabbed in varying spots in the house sometimes in front of computers with lots of family and ancestor photos, sometimes in my aunt's tiny apartment at the back of the rental part of the home, sometimes around the grill or kitchen counters as we prepared meals, and sometimes just lounging in the beautiful front porch or very comfortable living room.    Is there anything better than family time?

And to top it all off we were able to enjoy beautiful sunsets on the lake.

A special thank you to my cousin Laurie who made this all possible.  Sadly she was in California so couldn't enjoy the time with us.
