North Carolina or Bust

Friday, October 6, 2015
We woke to a very grey and misty morning in Brunswick, Georgia but still warm and sticky.  After breakfast in the Quality Inn lobby, we were back on the road for what we thought would be about a five hour trip that turned into seven because of a horrendous back up shortly after we crossed the border into North Carolina heading into Charlotte.  We finally were able to get off the expressway but with loads of other people so ended up on back roads not prepared for so much traffic and headed into downtown Charlotte.  It was an "interesting" couple of hours but we finally made it!!!!!! Hooray!! One very memorable stop was at the Rock Hill, SC Flying J where we paid only $1.72.9 for gas!!!!!! Amazing

Well we made it to the Panera near the mall in Concord where we enjoyed a late lunch before going over to the mall to pick up a few items.  Then we were off to our daughter's home in Harrisburg. Both Jackson and Reilly were home and helped us get our luggage into the house.  Reilly had played his last football game of the season last night and ended up not feeling well so stayed home today.  Jackson is doing his college classes via computer this month so he had been home studying after sleeping in since he works five days a week for FedEx on the midnight shift.

Reilly and I played a couple of games - Sorry which I won and then Millionaires Monopoly which he won.  Tim came in from his school while we were working and Sue came home from her school shortly thereafter.  Since they needed to go out and do the shopping for the food for tomorrow's Eagle ceremony they headed out immediately for the store.

They returned later with pizza that we enjoyed together before tackling putting together the centerpieces for the ceremony and dinner that will follow.  We made frosting stars for the cupcakes with blue frosting.  They will all be laid out like a flag.

We went through some pins, pictures and other items I'd given Jackson that had been my father's when he was a boy scout.  Sue had a memento frame that we could lay them in so they can go on a display table along with two trifolds of pictures from Jackson's years as a cub and scout and doing his eagle project.

By then everyone was exhausted and heading off to bed which is where I'm heading momentarily.  Tomorrow is the big day!
