Ken and I spent the day traveling from Florida City at the southern end of Florida to Brunswick, Georgia just north of the Florida border. It was an uneventful day of travel leaving at 8:00 in the morning after breakfast at the hotel, a very short stop in the Cocoa Beach area for a bite of lunch and then on to the hotel in Brunswick arriving around 4:30.
I went for a walk around the area just looking for restaurants and getting in some exercise time while Ken rested after a day behind the wheel. I discovered there were a half dozen different hotels in this location along with a couple of restaurants and a Harley Davidson motorcycle shop where a band was set up outside along with a couple of canopied areas and hundreds of bikes. There was some kind of club gathering going on! I was grateful to know that our room faced away from most of the activity so we would be spared the noise of it all.
At dinner time we walked over to the Toucan Bar and Grill for faitas then simply spent the evening relaxing - well Ken did that and I spent time researching motels we can stay at for the remainder of this trip as well as the rest of November because we found out today the earliest we can expect to get our motorhome back is the end of the month and that is if we don't arrange to stay in it each night.
Finding motels was a challenge not only because we need them in Florida when all the snow birds are arriving but also because the month includes Thanksgiving and lots of people have already booked their stays for then. The Microtel in Zephyrhills had only one room available and it was a smoking one so we ended up booking at the Quality Inn and gulped when we got the bill. We can stay at Hillcrest for 2 1/2 months for the cost of 2 weeks in that motel!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luckily our insurance will cover some of the cost.
