Racing the Clock

Saturday, October 4, 2014

At 6:30 a.m. ---- yes, that early -- Dan, Jen and I were on the way to a USA Swim Meet with Rachel; the first one of the season.  It was doubly hard getting going because last nights the wind and rain came and sent the temperatures diving so it was only in the high 40s when we left.

But what a fantastic meet for Rachel!!  And of course fun for us to watch.  She improved her times from last season and qualified for districts in all four events she was participating in: 50 free, 200 free, 100 back and 400 IM.  In fact, she placed first in the silver division in two of the events and took over 17 seconds off her 400 IM.
Getting ready for the 200 free

Neck and neck with another swimmer in the 100 back

 She won!!!
Taking off for the 400 IM (in the blue suit and yellow hat) in Lane 4
The butterfly
The backstroke
The breast stroke
The freestyle
The results after 16 lengths of giving it her all

Tomorrow she will be competing in four other events but we will have to miss that as it is Sunday morning and we'll be in church.  Go Rachel!!
