Surgery Day

Thursday, August 11, 2016
Ken was told to report to the Lakeside Ambulatory Center at 9:00 this morning which meant we'd face all the going to work traffic.  Since it usually takes about an hour to get there, we decided it was best we get up and leave extra early because there is also a lot of construction on both I 75 and I 59. The upshot was we arrived almost a half hour early because we found a bubble in the traffic missing much of the heavy traffic we expected.

But all went well and we were on our way back home by 11:30 stopping first at TGI Fridays for some lunch since Ken was quite hungry by that time.  Because there were several TVs going we were able to watch a bit of the Olympic competition while waiting for our food. I especially love watching the swimming and gymnastics which happen in the early days of the competition and that is a lot of what we were seeing along with some of the rowing.

When we left this morning at 7:30 the temperature outside was 76 with 95% humidity!!!  We felt like we were walking into a wall when we stepped out.  For sure our summer here in Michigan has been much like Florida's.  In fact, by the time we stopped for lunch the temperature in this area of Michigan was exactly the same at the area by our home in Florida.  In both cases the weather said it felt like 98 degrees  with an actual of 90 degrees and humidity at 76%.  What a summer!!!!!

Neither of us had the least bit of interest in walking today so all the steps we got in were ones taken just going from home to car to building to car, etc.  I did get in a bit more because I did some walking inside while waiting for Ken's surgery to be done.

Unfortunately, Ken has been feeling a fair amount of discomfort in his eye so he has spent a good part of the afternoon and evening resting with his eyes closed.  Thank goodness he can sleep no matter what.  We'll both feel much better after it all gets checked out again tomorrow at the follow up appointment.
