A Day at Sea

Tuesday, April 5, 2016

Before going to bed last night we reset our clocks to the Central Time Zone which apparently is what we’ll be in while we are traveling.  That means there was no reason to be up and moving quickly this morning as we gained an hour.  How nice it was to wake and move slowly as we prepared for the day.

We decided to have our breakfast in the Windjammer Café – which is the buffet up on the eleventh deck.
Since we didn’t see any members of our group up there we chose to take a table again outside on the back deck.  Ken got us both a cup of tea while I held the table and the then I enjoyed that while he got some breakfast.  I got mine after he came back and we had chatted for a bit.  Then while getting mine I saw the Johnsons and chatted with them for a few minutes while waiting for my egg to be prepared.  Since Ken wanted to head off to a seminar, I then carried my things in and joined the Johnson’s.

Dan’s ankle was somewhat swollen so he took off to go back to his room and ice it (he tore his Achilles tendon this past week and is awaiting surgery so getting around using a knee roller but needs to have the leg up most of the time) while Patti and I enjoyed some conversation.  Ken came back and joined us before we went our separate ways.

After picking up a trivia sheet of games to tackle during the day, we returned to the room so we could just enjoy our balcony and the absolutely gorgeous view of blue skies and water.
I finished off a book I’ve been reading the past week and Ken settled down to enjoy one as well.  This ship doesn’t seem to have nearly the number of activities or spots of interest that we are use to and we really just wanted some quiet time anyway so this was perfect.  Besides getting a room with such a great balcony makes us want to take advantage of it.  There we aren’t surrounded by all the noise and confusion of many other people such as on the decks by the pools.

At lunch time we again returned to the Windjammer and ended up enjoying our meal while chatting with the Engstroms and Victorys.  Dave and Donna stopped by as well and several other members of our group took a table right by us.

I went down and watched a napkin folding class (got there too late get a napkin) for a bit and also watched some line dancing from afar – they were doing it in the center of the ship in what they call the Centrum but were down a few floors from where I was.
This ship has lots of open areas like that where you can see several floors from balconies that jut out on each floor.

The rest of the afternoon allowed me time to spend on the computer writing blog entries and playing games while Ken took a nap.

Tonight was a formal night so everyone got a bit more spiffed up for dinner though many In our group took a far more casual approach to dress than we are use to seeing. Ken and I were able to get down to the Centrum early enough to enjoy some classical music played by this trio before going in to dinner.

I had the Johnson’s who were also listening to take a picture of us.

The bright sun slowly wended its way down to the horizon while we were eating dinner and I was able to shoot a picture through the window by our table.
The evening entertainment in the theater was an action juggler, Marcus Monroe.  He did all the usual stuff but tried to be funny.  It was an ok show.   At that point we’d had enough for the night.

We arrived back in our room to find this sitting on our bed.
