Ken was up bright and early today so he could get the car to the Ford dealer when they opened -- the air conditioning has quit which certainly isn't good down here in the sunny south where summer temperatures are beginning to visit. Unfortunately he learned that the compressor has died and must be replaced and that will cost more than the car is worth but it is a must and we are trying to make the car last since the money we saved to buy a new one ended up being used to purchase our little park model when we had no where to live (the RV was in repair for 3 1/2 months this winter). Then shortly after we moved in the air conditioning/heat pump for the house died and had to be replaced!! Yes, this has been a very expensive winter and one we'd rather not do over. Anyway, the dealership was kind enough to provide a ride home to Ken and will pick him up to go back tomorrow when the car is ready.
Meanwhile we are without transportation which is not all bad as we were forced to just relax and enjoy the positively gorgeous weather today. In fact, this is a continuation of gorgeous weather we've had the last couple of days and are suppose to have all week. Highs are around 80-81 and lows around 67-68 with fluffy white clouds, sunshine and light breezes. Can it get any better than this?
We've created a long list of all the things we need to do before we close up here and go back on the road early in May so completed a few of those tasks and otherwise just enjoyed a bike ride in the park and chatting with the neighbors.
Shelvia Golden invited us to her birthday party today. There aren't a whole lot of us left here in the park but several who are were also there including our next door neighbors and across the street neighbors and the couple we bought our park model from back in December. It was fun to just sit around and celebrate with Shelvia.
On the front porch of the Golden's man cave home (they have two park models side by side) there is a juke box and Elvis complete with microphone. Our next door neighbor, Peggy, cuddled up to him for this picture.
Because we didn't go back home till about 8:00 we missed our favorite TV shows Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune so we decided to walk over to the motor home where we could watch the shows via the recorder and cut out all the commercials. And it gave me time to start knocking off another task from our list - cleaning out the cupboards and sorting through collected stuff we really don't need any more. Once the shows were done, we had a stack of things for the recycle bin so we walked by it on the way home. The moon is almost full and stars filled the skies. A beautiful night for a walk.
