We were quite surprised to get up to the Windjammer Café
this morning and not find a whole lot of people. The advantage was we could find a nice round
table by the windows overlooking the harbor and part way through the meal we
were joined by Dan and Patti Johnson. As
we were finishing, Gary and Dianne Metcalfe joined us as well so we had fun
just chatting for quite awhile as the noise level increased greatly. The ship was pulling into Grand Cayman
to
drop anchor and everyone who wanted to get off had apparently decided to wait
till the last minute for breakfast so they could be full when they left and not
need any food till dinner. By 10:30 most
all of the passengers were awaiting tenders and by around 11:15 the ship was
quite empty leaving lots of quite spots for those of us interested in simply
enjoying the ship.
Ken and I decided to get in our walk by staying in the air
conditioning and walking from one end of the 6th floor to the other
enough times to complete 2 miles. My
fitbit provided the info for us – and after 6 rounds we had accomplished it
seeing all the interesting spots along the way and very few people.
I had fun taking a few photos of various spots on the
ship. The Solarium is the adult pool
area that is under a glass roof so not only quiet but also away from the
burning rays of the sun.
Dan and Patti
have been enjoying the chaises there where he can have his foot up and ice it
easily.
Since I wanted one of the rock climbing wall, we trekked up
to the 13th floor where we could see itand enjoy a round of
miniature golf as well.
On the way back to our room we passed through the pool area
and got this shot
From there we worked our way further back to the rock climbing wall
And decided to play a round of miniature golf that was set up just across the above bridge.
Ken beat me by two strokes!
We then began to work our way down from the thirteenth level stopping on the eleventh floor near the glass elevators. There we stepped out on one of the balconies that juts out into
the Centrum area to show what it is like from the top floor(11) looking down to
the floor at the bottom (4)
We then took the glass outside elevator down to our floor
(8) enjoying the view out toward the harbor.
We joined Dan and Patti again for lunch but then just
relaxed in our room reading for the remainder of the afternoon.
Following dinner, we joined several couples at the evening
trivia game which involved identifying the place (name of it) as well as the
state or country where it was in 40 different pictures. Our group did pretty good but came up several
points short of the winning team. Still
it was fun seeing pictures of so many sites we have visited or hope to see one
day including the statues at Easter Island, Machu Pichu in Peru, and the
Brandenburg Gate in Germany.
I wanted to check out the R & B singer in the theater
but chose to sit in a very back seat in case I didn’t want to stay – and by the
middle of the second song I was off for one more walk around the ship before
calling it a night. Tonight we set our
clocks back again to Eastern Daylight Time so we can live by that tomorrow so
we lose an hour tonight.
This is the cute towel sculpture we found waiting for us when we returned tonight
