It felt good to sleep in a bit this morning as we didn't need to be at church until 10:50. That gave us time to leisurely dress and enjoy eggs, bacon and bagels --- a treat for Ken who was celebrating Father's Day. (course we needed to sleep in since it was hard to go to sleep last night with all the noise)
Eastminster Presbyterian Church was on the far side of Virginia Beach. We chuckled about the name since Noelle's dad's church is Westminster and indeed is to the west of us. The congregation was very welcoming with several people coming over to introduce themselves while we sat in a pew and the pastor, David Zavadil, enjoyed chatting with us as we left.
After changing when we returned, Noelle called her dad to wish him a Happy Father's Day while Ken enjoyed a chat with Beth who called him. Meanwhile I worked on a dinner of ribs, baked potatoes and salad with some of our birthday chocolate cake for dessert.
Noelle and I enjoyed a couple of games - Scattergories (3 rounds) and Skip-Bo - all of which she won. Then she was off to wander the store here at the campground for a bit. It had lots of stuff in it and she wanted more time just to look after our stop there a couple of days ago. In fact, she came back with three pieces of memorabilia for the knick knack shelves she has requested for her bedroom. She got a sea gull, dolphin and sea horse with lots of shells on it.
The weather today is absolutely perfect with clear blue skies and temperatures in the high 70s with low humidity and just a tiny breeze. But we all agreed we'd rather wait till a little later in the day to go to the beach so as to avoid getting sunburn.
Before we knew it the later had arrived and we were off for fun in the sand and surf. Noelle had a ball playing in the big waves,
finding more shells and other sea life,
then digging a hole in the sand, and later a barrier to try and stop the incoming tide from wiping out her creation.
After about three hours, the sun was going down and chilling the air a bit plus everyone was hungry so we gathered our things and headed back to the car and drove back to the campground and the little cafe near the entrance.
The metal sculptures at the entrance and inside were so cute. It is right next to the pool so we could eat a burger at a table by the pool and Noelle could get in some more swimming before calling it a night.
We returned to the RV and while Noelle took a shower I spent some time going through pictures I'd taken today. Once she returned we tackled two games: Sequence which we played 3 times with Noelle winning twice and golf which I finally won by 4 points aftet her leading most of the game.
Time for bed!!!!!! It is after 11:00 but tomorrow we can sleep in as Noelle wants to just have a quiet day with beach time and more games; no rushing about. :-)
