Ken and I along with Scott drove out to the West Bloomfield Henry Ford Hospital today to see our daughter hard at work in the demonstration kitchen where she was overseeing the filming of four different videos that will be used over the next four weeks by Kroger grocery stores in the Metro area. They were also taking lots of photos of the foods being created that would be placed in the brochures and made available at those stores.
Here she is talking with the photographer setting up the granola bars for a shot. They tried many arrangements
Here a dietician working with her is doing the actual demonstration of how to make salad in a jar. The video will then be available for anyone to see along with the list of ingredients.
And here the photographer and another marketing person working with her are preparing for a shoot of the salads in the jar that will be done in another spot in the hospital
She has been working with Kroger's to provide this marketing service that includes the presence of dietitians in select stores each Wednesday ready to answer questions and share these brochures encouraging the purchase of ingredients to make the various dishes - one featured each week.
Here she is with one of the dietitians working for her at a taping for Fox News in Detroit where they shared one of the dishes and the story about their coming presence in stores.
Antigone (on the left) is the hands in all of the videos preparing the various dishes. Her 6th grade daughter was also there with us today and will be the hands for a dish children can make for a snack.
These are some shots of Bethany at work in one of the Kroger stores a couple of weeks ago.
And this is the set up people can expect to find.
Here you can see a camera man from Fox 2 taking video to be used in the news show.
All of the pictures I took today are on Ken's phone so I have to figure out how to get them off so as to add them in to this blog. But it all sure made for an interesting day. AND we got to taste the goodies after they were made and photographed including some granola bars.
One of the administrators at the hospital took us on a bit of tour to see the greenhouse, small lake where they are developing a path for patients to walk or be pushed in a wheel chair, the huge inside garden area for patients and visitors to sit and talk, and all of the beautiful art on the walls. The cafeteria is amazing with lots of very healthy foods offered in a food court type set up and dining area with huge windows overlooking garden area. It is at one end of a mall like corridor with many trees, small tables and chairs to sit and interesting shops to check out. It is an amazing place for sure.
In the evening, we enjoyed dinner at bd Mongolian with the family and then drove by the YMCA in Royal Oak where our three oldest competed in swim meets for years starting when Dan was just 7 years old. The kids had already taken lessons and competed with the Highland Park YMCA for a couple of years - something the coach talked me into as I couldn't imagine such little kids competing. Beth was only 7 when they started and by the time Dan was 5 he too was competing. She said it was a great way to get good swim lessons for a lot less money and she was right. Anyway, Dan asked us to stop and check out the record board for 8 and under boys as at one time he was on a relay team that made the record. Well sure enough, he still is. Here is the proof
