"Rolling" to Michigan for a Graduation

Thursday/Friday, June 9/10, 2016
We left our motorhome set up in our son's driveway and jumped in our car for a quick trip - a six hour drive to Michigan for our grandson Scott's graduation from Berkley High School.  It was held out at Meadowbrook.  His girlfriend Bella joined us for the celebration.
Prior to driving out there, we took a couple of pictures in the backyard.  First of Scott with his brother Jason and his mom and dad
And this one with Ken and I
We were lucky enough to get seats in row Z so not super far back.  Beth's friend Terri joined us along with her daughter Bailey (her youngest  Hannah was also graduating) and later her parents and her children's father Carl. She came with a graduation Bingo game for us all to play that added some fun to the affair.
This was her sheet part way through the ceremony - with one Bingo.  She later got 2 more bingos and the chocolate prize.

We were treated to music by both the award winning symphony orchestra and the band as well as the choir during the ceremony.  The superintendent shared some amazing facts about the class including the fact that the girl's tennis team not only had a winning season but the girls on the team had a  grade point average of 4.26!!!  (the way to be over a 4 is to take AP classes and get an A which earns a 5.) A total of 148 students graduated with honors!!!!  I've never seen so many gold cords on a group of students.  I don't remember how much the total was in scholarships but it was over 3 million!!
After the usual number of speeches each of the approximately 300 grads had their moment in the sun having their name announced and then crossing the stage to receive their diploma--here is Scott receiving his diploma
This summer he will stay on the campus of the Center for Creative Studies for three weeks and take a drawing class.  An opportunity to get a taste of the school and see what her thinks.  In the fall he'll go to Oakland Community College to begin taking his required courses for a degree along with at least one art class a semester.  He is hoping to connect with a band to play his electronic bass or drums or a combination of that.  In addition, he is earning some money doing some landscaping work for a friend of Beth's.  This fellow has an enormous garden with several water features and lots of plantings.
