Shopping Fun

Tuesday, July 12, 2016
We had designated this as a "lazy" day.  Time to catch up with our selves.  And that it was except by noon we were ready to do something  It was way to hot to be outside (92 and humid) so we decided to get a bit of shopping done as we did need groceries.

But that little task grew.  The car was filthy after being towed so we first went to the car wash down in Waterford and then backtracked to Ollie's for a bit of just wandering and seeing if there were any bargains.  And as usual there were.  I ended up buying several items for rally baskets for the Florida State Rally which is next February.  It is my job each year to fill several themed baskets that are donated by our club the Mid-Florida Winnies.  It is much fun to just keep eyes out for bargains and then come up with themes to fit them plus enough stuff to make them look interesting and inviting while keeping to about a $25 value.  Today I got a start on Leisure, BBQ, Travel, Office and Picnic/Potluck Baskets.

Once we were done with that fun task, we headed to Aldi's over on M59 to get as much of the stuff on my grocery list as possible.  We actually found all but 3 of the items!

Then it was time to start heading back but taking the long way around so as to drive by our old house in Waterford to see how it is doing.  We were so pleased to see how well it is being taken care of.  All of the birch trees still look healthy, the plantings we put around the front of the house have matured and look great and the flowering cherry in the front has been trimmed and looks great.  The blue spruce continues to grow and now fills the side yard and must stand close to 50 feet tall.  There was a pontoon boat in the spot where we use to store our RV and the long garden by that has been trimmed and a flag pole "planted" adding interest to the spot.  It really looks great.

We continued north stopping at Kroger's for the last couple of items we needed and then filling our gas tank at $2.16.9.  Certainly better than we saw on our trip to Michigan although in Branson we actually found a station where it was $1.89.9.

By the time we returned we were starved.  Luckily I had put chicken in the crockpot before we left so I could quickly put a meal on the table including the tossed salad I've been keeping ready for eating in the fridge.

Just before the rain storm hit this evening, Ken and I did a quick walk around this end of the park and even had time to chat with the woman across the street from us who is a relative of a couple we knew at Hillcrest, Ed and Barb Wells.  Ed died a couple of months ago and Barb has been having some major heart problems. We hope to visit her and the Brendels who live across the street in the next few days.
