"Bridge Group" and Choir

Thursday, September 10, 2015
We awoke to an absolutely gorgeous clear blue sky and loads of sunshine this morning..  It was only 52 degrees but by early afternoon it was in the high 70s with far less humidity than we've been experiencing.  It was glorious!!!!!!!  Ken and I went for a walk this morning just so we could get out and soak it all up before I took off in the car.

Sha Buikema hosted a gathering of some of my old bridge group that no longer played cards.  At one time we spent the evening playing many hands and keeping score.  Then gradually we got to talking so much we played fewer and fewer games.  Soon we would be lucky to play one or two hands but we sure did socialize!!!  Then we just quit even taking out the cards and just enjoyed one another's company.  Now many of us have moved away from the Pleasant Ridge/Ferndale area so getting together is a very special treat.

Marilyn took this picture so she is missing
Then I took this one to get Marilyn but now I'm missing.
Sha fixed a fantastic soup along with good bread and butter.  Two different salads rounded out the meal along with fresh tomatoes from her garden.  The dessert plate was fantastic!  She'd baked little cream puffs and another cookie (I forgot the name) and then piled fresh strawberries around it!!  We sure ate well

We talked alot too!!! In fact, 4 1/2 hours literally flew by.  Then we all had to race off hoping to beat the worst of the going home traffic.  Unfortunately I didn't manage that but hopefully the others who had long drives had better success.  But whatever, it was worth it!!!  It was just a terrific day of sharing.

Sha sent me home with a battery candle that I promptly put on our dinner table and turned on so we could enjoy it.  It gives off a bit of a vanilla scent and has a small "flame" that flutters just like a real candle but is really only battery powered.  It is perfect for the motorhome as we don't allow real candles inside for a variety of reasons.

By the time I got home, there was only 20 minutes for me to quick put together a dinner and eat it before Ken had to leave for the church and the first choir practice of the season.  He'd been looking forward to that for a long time.

While he was gone I enjoyed another walk around the campground and then sitting outside and reading a book till it got too dark to read.  It is just so peaceful right now with all of the kids gone and just other retirees here enjoying the park in our own quiet ways.  I also spent time catching up on our email and checking out Facebook along with playing a number of Words with Friends games and carrying on "conversations" with some of the people I play with.

Ken came home around 10:00 tonight tired from all the singing but reved up from the experience. The choir does alot of challenging numbers and works on a variety of pieces of music each week.
