Neither Ken or I are big TV watchers, but we do enjoy being able to answer the questions on Jeopardy and guess the words and phrases on Wheel of Fortune both of which we've been able to record since we have Direct TV. That was we can see them both minus the ads whenever we find the time to fit them in. And Ken does enjoy watching the Tigers and Lions. BUT when we moved here to Groveland Oaks the dish wouldn't work which meant the only TV we could get was a couple of very weak reception channels from Flint. That we had to fix.
So Ken called for service several days ago only to find that the company that made our dish has disconnected its phones and is not available anymore. After research we found out it is a Korean company and the only way to fix the situation is to find a source for a very very expensive part and then it could quit on us since the history has proven to be unreliable.
That meant another solution --- a different dish. It arrived today and was installed. The fellow doing it was in the camping spot right next to us!! How convenient if we run into any other problems this weekend since he is here till Monday. But meanwhile, we could sit down tonight and watch our favorite shows. AND if we wanted music we could play the music channels again which we do quite often.
Meanwhile, I continued to tackle the outside cleaning of our basement bins as well as clean the front and wax it so maybe the bugs will slide off a little easier next time we drive. A couple of the bins had the beginnings of rust so Ken wire brushed, sanded and coated them with rustoleum. At least those areas are now in better shape.
Frank and Bette Foulke sent us a picture of their son Steve and his new wife taken at the wedding ceremony today. When we parted in late August after traveling together for over three months, they were headed to Allentown, PA to spend time with their three kids and their families and prepare for this day that they have been looking forward to for a very long time.
And here they are with their three kids: Steve, Carol and Lisa
Ken turned in the rental car and got ours back this afternoon. The A/C is now working great BUT the wrong fender parts were sent by the company so we'll have to take it back again sometime in the next week and a half to have those repairs made. We were glad to get it back as we found the Fiesta rental car to be very uncomfortable. We definitely would never buy one of those after this experience.
The sun finally appeared this afternoon taking the temperatures up in to the high 80s with very high humidity (after the sun set it was 76%. I don't know what it was earlier in the day but sure know it was sticky and there were plenty of mosquitoes after all the rain we've had.
The park is full for the weekend so by this evening there was lots of smoke in the air from the many fires and plenty of kids running around and riding bikes. It is a happy time for so many families - the last couple of days before the routine of fall including schools starting on Tuesday.
