Ken was up real early this morning so he could get to the lab in Lake Orion for blood tests his doctor ordered to be completed before he comes in for a physical. He had to be there by 7:00 am!!!
Then he came home and turned the car over to me so I could drive down to Peabody's in Birmingham for a luncheon with Jeanne Daigle, Pauline Pickering, and Regina Hendryckx. What a delightful several hours we spent just catching up on everyone's news as well as reliving old memories, hearing about Jeanne's trip to Alaska, and looking at pictures. It is hard to believe that our days at Clinton Center were so very long ago. I retired from Ferndale Adult Education in the Fall of 1997 and Regina graduated in 1995 (I think that was the year).
The long drive home gave me an opportunity to make several stops since I was passing right by Ollies, Ace Hardware, and Runnin' Gear. I found some more items for the Florida State rally baskets that our club, Mid-Florida Winnies will be putting together in February. It has been fun just keeping my eyes open and picking up inexpensive items as I think up themes for the baskets. I've now got items for a travel basket, leisure time activities basket, happy hour basket and kitchen basket. I'm working on place mats for a dining basket and have completed one Christmas ornament for a Christmas time basket. Hopefully I will get lots of handicrafted items from the members of our club to help fill these baskets as well. I do know that Paulette has already completed a table top Christmas tree made with quilting material and a cone and Bette is working on some place mats.
In addition I found some good furniture cleaner for the car seats, bought a new rug for the bathroom, ordered new shoes, and purchased my very favorite Sanders hot fudge sauce to store for my birthday sundae in January. Sanders sauces can't be found in Florida.
Shortly after I pulled in at the campground around 6:00 pm the skies opened up as the wind whipped the trees and people could be seen running for cover all around us. We quickly pulled in our passenger slide that leaks when it rains and then just relaxed for the evening watching our two favorite shows, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, along with a bit of the Tiger game being played in Kansas City.
