We bid our friends farewell early this morning and got on the road around 7:30 am knowing we had a long trip ahead of us. Ken spent the entire day driving in order to get us to Michigan where we decided to spend the night in Monroe rather than deal with metro Detroit going home traffic to get to Groveland Oaks in Holly. It isn't a bad trip but awful in stop and go traffic that at times comes to a standstill in the evening travel hours.
Our day took us from Pennsylvania up into New York where we got on I 86 through the last of the green mountains (nothing like that at our destination in Michigan) and away from the beautiful blue skies we'd been enjoying.
It took us back toward Lake Erie where we caught I 90 and dropped down back into Pennsylvania and then into Ohio. We passed through Cleveland where we got a quick peek at Lake Erie in the downtown area.
Then a little further east we joined the Ohio Turnpike and took that to Toledo where we could get on I 75 up into Michigan. So it was mostly expressway driving but still a long drive and most of it through rain which we found in the mountains of New York. This picture was shows it in the distance but at that time it looked like the western mountains with a bit of snow on the top (that was the last we saw of fluffy white clouds). While Ken was driving, I did some stitching - tough to do on some of the rough roads but when I could I did and managed to get this much done on a placemat I'm making for one of the Rally baskets for the Florida State Rally next February. Obviously I have a way to go to finish this before putting a back on it but at least I'm making progress.
I also finished off this cross stitch Christmas ornament that will now need to be fit into its frame with the little music box tab that came with it. It too will be for a rally basket with a Christmas theme.
