The End of Travel with the Foulkes

August 11, 2015
Yesterday we traveled across I 80 into Pennsylvania and settled for the day at Woodland RV Park near Curwensville where our son and his family use to live.  In fact, once we arrived we realized this is the park where we stayed back in those days when we couldn't be in their church parking lot which was by their manse home.

And once again we were blessed by the weather.  It was overcast as we traveled but pleasant.  Then last night after we were in bed the rains caught up with us and pelted down most of the night. Yet this morning it is sunshiny giving promise of yet another gorgeous day.  We have had almost perfect weather for our entire trip since we left Florida back in mid April.

This will be our last day of travel together with Frank and Bette though we will still share another couple of weeks together at the Ives Run Core of Engineers Park near Tioga, PA.  We've had a fabulous time seeing so many wonderful places in this vast country of ours. We chuckled yesterday when we went over the highest point on I 80 east of the Mississippi.  It was 2,230 feet.  Certainly nothing like we had been over out West on I 80 especially in Wyoming when we were driving hours and hours at 6,000 to 8,000 feet.

We enjoy reading Nick Russell's, Gypsy Journal blogs each morning when they arrive on our computer. They put chuckles in our day as well as keep us informed.  But today's quote of the day really seemed apropos to our status: "I have found out that there ain't no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them." (Mark Twain)  We love you guys, Frank and Bette Foulke!!!!!  It has been a wonderful three months together.  And we look forward to a couple of more weeks with you and all of your Keystone Winnie friends at the campout at Ives Run.

Addendum..............
Our travels to Ives Run took us through the rolling hills and mountains of central Pennsylvania with the Foulkes leading the way.
Early in the trip we passed some absolutely gorgeous patches of sumac similar to this
Every thing was soooo green due to all the rain they've had this year that it made any color look especially bright.
The mountains certainly got higher the closer we got to our destination.
We did see several rivers and a couple of small lakes but as we drew near to the park we passed Lake Hammond which is in Ives Run
We got set up in our spot which is huge and includes lovely trees and lots of grass.  Our neighbors are Al and Dorothy Beers on the right and Bill and Ann Sherwood on our left.  Frank and Bette are across from us.  Ron and Kathy Alison pulled in right behind us.  Jan Reed arrived a couple of hours before us.  Harold Zimmerman arrived earlier in the day as did Steve and Lorraine Plant.  We are all grouped together and look forward to a couple of weeks of fun together.
We started off with dinner out in the nearby town of Wellsboro.  Eight of us gathered around the table for some good conversation and food - the Alisons, Beers, Foulkes and us.
