Ken and I enjoyed a walk around the area of this park where we are parked just taking in the beauty of the area as we stretched our legs. Our spot offers a view of the lake
And just across the street is a bridge to a little island used for picnicing that offers some very pretty views
Walking back we realized we have one of the prettiest spots around with lots of extra "green space"
I took advantage of the very cool day to make a huge pot of soup that I can then freeze portions of for later use. But we couldn't enjoy it today because we were off to meet friends for lunch at a diner. Bill and Elaine have been friends for a very long time and their son Steve was in town making contacts with people about the Family Life program that he heads up for Campus Crusade. We've been supporting him and Stephanie for almost 20 years. We truly enjoyed chatting for several hours around the table. We will see Bill and Elaine again in December when they come down to Florida to stay in Venice.
We then drove to the local Ford dealership that we use to use when we lived in the area and spent time with our salesman there looking at a Fusion hybrid and an Edge. We are trying to make the decision as to what we should do about transportation since our car now has over 138,000 miles of driving and over 100,000 miles of being towed. It is getting tired and our tow break has broken. We'll find out tomorrow if it can be fixed but if it can't that may be the final reason for making the change.
By the time we finished there not only looking and test driving but arranging for some repair work on the car, it was time to head to the Berkley High School football game so we could see our grandson Jason playing his sax in the marching band. He is a freshman this year so this was his first marching experience. We arrived in the parking lot only to see friend Ron Gillham just walking across the lot. He and Shirley and their son Greg were attending the game. Once we got in, we found Betsy Rice up a few bleachers from us so had time to chat with her too. Daniel is a senior this year and playing trumpet in the band. Tom came later after a meeting at the church so we were able to chat with him at that time. His last Sunday as the pastor is just a couple of days away.
Beth arrived just as the band was marching out on the field for the pregame show
Since school hasn't even started, they are wearing their "summer uniforms" of a T shirt and shorts though it felt more like fall with this very cool weather.
The Holly High School team was far better than Berkley's so by the half time they already had big lead. So once we watched the half time show
we decided to leave and head back to the campground as it was getting dark and it is better than an hour drive back. In fact, it was after 10:00 when we pulled in so once I finish this I'm heading to bed and Ken is already there :-)
PS....... Meanwhile our youngest grandson in North Carolina was playing in his first football game as a freshman and his mom was emailing pictures of him in action (#32) Go Reilly!!!
And our friend Jan Reed was celebrating her 81st birthday on the "real day" at a good friends home in Lancaster, PA.
Computers really can be wonderful when all is working well since they keep us in touch with all that is going on with family and friends near and far. Sadly one other FB note was not so great for our daughter Janet. They finally moved back into their house after being out for repairs since flooding back in late April BUT the kitchen is totally non functional and there is NO water at all on the first floor plus all the PODS have been emptied but there is no where to put most of the stuff since shelves aren't installed and there are no baseboards so nothing can be put back where it belongs but the kids can walk out the door to get on their school bus cutting much driving. Oh yeah, and the air conditioning has broken again so the house temp is in the high 90's and she is trying to doing a demanding job in her home office under those conditions. What a summer she has had
