We've settled for the night at the High Plains Campground in Oakley, Kansas after turning our backs on the beautiful Rocky Mountains and setting sail for the East. It was hard saying goodbye to all that beauty!!! But all things have to come to an end.
Actually there is lots of wonderful stuff still to come but not along the beautiful Pacific Coast or in the western mountains. Now we are heading toward visits with lots of friends and family all of whom are east of the Mississippi River.
To get there we must cross the plains of Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois. We were passing corn fields and fields of windmills most of the day with the winds blowing across the plains and hitting the side of our motorhome. And shortly before we arrived here we crossed the time line so we are now on Central Time - another sign we are getting closer to our next destination.
We enjoyed a meal together at Cap'n Jack's Pub, a place right here on the campground. But other than that just relaxed for the evening before calling it a night. We'll be up early and off again in the morning.
